The Raymond Theatre
is a 2,000 seat theater which opened as a vaudeville theater in the 1920's. In
the 1950's it became the Crown Theatre, and was one of Pasadena's premier movie
theaters. In 1971, it was renamed Perkins Palace and presented some of the top
name artists in commercial music until the theater closed for redevelopment in
1990. It is one of three remaining examples of Georgian, Beau-Arts architectural
style theaters left in the United States today. The Raymond Theatre is on the
National Register of Historic Places and also qualifies as a State of California
Landmark.
Ongoing battle needs support and donations to keep court fight alive.
